Máire, 75, Cautioned By PSNI For Terrorism Over Palestine Action Shirt
“The law that says wearing a t-shirt is terrorism, or wearing red is terrorism. Have we not got past 1798 when it was a hanging offence in Ireland for wearing the colour green? It's the 21st century?, “ she said in a comment to Aontacht Media.
A video circulating on social media has sparked outrage after PSNI stopped Máire McNally, a 75-year old anarchist, and cautioned her once again over her wearing of a Palestine Action t-shirt.
McNally was spotted by PSNI officers wearing the t-shirt in the Apple Store yesterday, as part of her activism with BDS Belfast The video, taken a while after on the street, shows a woman PSNI officer approaching her. She states that the incident will be forwarded to prosecution under terrorism legislation in the North of Ireland. McNally defiantly responds that the PSNI needs to issue a second caution, given that she has not taken off her t-shirt.

At Garvaghy Road last weekend, Breandán Mac Cionnaith pointed out that the Stormont regime is content for the Orange Order, a manifestly fascist organisation, to be allowed terrorize nationalist communities, while Palestine Action, a group which fights to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza, is banned by the law.
“That t-shirt was showing support for Palestine Action, who have been disgracefully labelled a terrorist group for attempts to stop Britain's role in 'Israeli' atrocities.
The PSNI compounded this harassment by then calling at our activist's house soon after the caution. Through behaviour such as this, the PSNI make themselves complicit in genocide by enforcing unjust laws against those coming to the aid of Palestinians.
They lower yet further their already dire reputation, and waste the public's money instead of investigating real crimes. We won't be intimidated by this petty harassment. We'll keep doing what we believe is right for Palestinian liberation, not what unjust laws tell us to do, “ BDS Belfast stated.

McNally’s first arrest for wearing a Palestine Action t-shirt in August 2025.
Last year, McNally made headlines for being the first person arrested in the occupied 6 counties under Section 12 and 13 of the Terrrorism Act (2000) for wearing a Palestine Action t-shirt, following which she brought a judicial review in defiance of Stormont.
