Covalen Workers On Strike Against Job Cuts

At a protest outside the Dáil today, campaigners called on Enterprise Minister Peter Burke to intervene over hundreds of planned redundancies at Covalent.

Speaking at the demonstration, activist Arcadia Jacob said workers were facing “unacceptable” conditions, claiming that 720 redundancies are set to take place, with 450 employees allegedly receiving no redundancy payments. Protesters later planned to march to Covalent’s offices in Ballsbridge as part of the ongoing campaign.

Campaigners also launched an online email initiative urging members of the public to contact the Minister for Enterprise directly, saying a letter sent to the department two weeks ago had yet to receive a response.

The protest marks the latest escalation in tensions surrounding the proposed job losses, with organisers calling for urgent government action to protect affected workers.
