CATU Call For Picket Over DePaul Evictions
All Aontacht readers are encouraged to take part in the action. We must show solidarity with those being evicted by landlords, be that private or State-adjacent.
A group of 36 women and children are facing an illegal eviction from Rendu Apartments on William Street North. Last week, a reporter from Aontacht Media spoke to those affected to hear their accounts of the chaotic situation they find themselves in. CATU has called a picket today over the matter.
“Our members are being moved against their choice, “ CATU said in a social media post.
“Depaul Housing is an Approved Housing Body (AHB) in Ireland and a subsidiary of the homeless charity Depaul Ireland. They operate Rendu apartments in Dublin 1, who are currently moving two of our members, and have already moved one, “ explained.
“36 women and at least 15 children overall have been served a notice for November 27th, citing fire safety issues. DePaul have offered alternative accommodation, but it is unacceptable: asking families and sick people to move from apartments into six-bed hostels, “ they further stated.
The details of the picket are accessible here. All Aontacht readers are encouraged to take part in the action. We must show solidarity with those being evicted by landlords, be that private or State-adjacent.
