Why Donald Trump Should Be Arrested In Ireland

We, in the strongest terms and language possible, oppose the visit of Donald Trump to Ireland. The fact that it is to his own Golf Course is immaterial. We in fact believe he should be arrested and questioned on the following grounds.

The case for his arrest under international law:

His associations with Jeffrey Epstein and alleged crimes within that context need to be investigated especially as there is credible suspicion that the Epstein ring trafficked and abused a 13 year old girl in Ireland. Whether Trump was involved in that or not is unknown but as an associate of Epstein he needs to be at least questioned. The matter has never been investigated.
His illegal war on Iran, which constitutes an unlawful war of aggression. It was not an act of self defense and was not authorised by the UN Security Council. Multiple legal scholars have argued such. Over 100 US legal experts including former ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo.
The war on Iran has focused largely on attacking civilian infrastructure which is a cut and dry war crime. Trump's threat to end "a whole civilization" in Iran may constitute a threat to commit genocide.
This could also apply to his attack on Venezuela and illegal capture of Maduro from his own sovereign soil.
His Gaza takeover proposal is flat out assistance to an ongoing recognised genocide.
His mass deportation policy has led to allegations of crimes against humanity that have gone entirely uninvestigated including alleged: Unlawful removals, forced disappearances, sending people to unsafe countries, lengthy detentions without trial, forced separation of families, disappearances of children, women and children suffering widespread uninvestigated sexual abuse, along with the holding of people in conditions that contravene international basic human rights.
He has imposed sanctions on the ICC and declared a "war" on the court, which critics say is to secure impunity for potential crimes.
Panamanian organizations have filed a complaint against Trump for "crimes against humanity" over the economic blockade against Cuba. His sanctions again may constitute a war crime as the cutting off of fuel has created an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in Cuba along with his blockading of relief from other countries.
He has also threatened to bomb Oman and threatened to invade Greenland. There are reports of US oil companies illegally setting up in Greenland already and while we do not support Denmark's claim to Greenland and believe it should be an independent sovereign territory of the people of Greenland we oppose US imperialism against Greenland.

In ignoring all outlined above, Ireland risks being complicit in these crimes, especially due to the fact that this is a private visit to private property not official state business, which theoretically could put it outside the remit of diplomatic law and diplomatic immunity. While Ireland’s International Criminal Court Act does not create unlimited universal jurisdiction over every alleged international crime committed by every foreign national abroad it specifically provides jurisdiction over certain serious Geneva Convention war crimes.

The fact he is a sitting US President and has customary personal immunity from the local criminal jurisdiction of foreign states, Ireland should investigate if any domestic jurisdiction exists and any exception to personal immunity exists over his alleged international crimes or if he can at least be brought in for questioning. Even if it would face substantial obstacles and lack of precedent. The US is not party to the Rome Statute, but Ireland is. We are also entitled to seek an ICC arrest warrant under the Rome Statute.

Ireland enacted the International Criminal Court Act way back in 2006 as part of our Rome Statute obligations.

Article 27 of the Rome Statute says official capacity, including being a head of state, does not exempt a person from ICC responsibility.

The Irish government has already been urged to stop facilitating the unlawful removals by Amnesty International and others, Shannon has been used at least 5 times as a fuelling stop for ICE deportation flights between May 2025 and February 2026. These unlawful removals are in violation of international law.

All actions against the ICJ and all military actions Trump has engaged in since coming to power are likely also in violation of international law and Ireland as a member of The UN with a long and illustrious history within the UN has a duty to uphold international law. International law is already weighted in favour of the US due to the US’s role in the post WWII peace process so when the US breaches it, it is all the more egregious in principle. Certain actors within Ireland would do well to remember as well, that it is Trump’s illegal war on Iran that has driven our fuel prices sky high and in a rurally based party, in a nation of agriculture and commuting (much of this agriculture for cheap commodities export and much of this commuting to provide labour for US multinationals) we cannot ignore this even if some gombeens choose to and would rather try to bully the government into allowing US oil concerns to drill off our coast and take our resources than they would to condemn Trump and his war on Iran. The government's response to hike public transport fares in this is also worthy of side by side condemnation as is the actions of certain actors within Ireland to pit people who need fuel relief and people who need affordable public transport fares against each other.

The case for his condemnation due to his actions domestically in the US:

Ignoring wherever you are in politics, and entirely separate from the theoretical international grounds for investigation or arrest the people of Ireland have long standing links to the people of America, be it the Choctaw and their relief in our famine, be it our own cousins in the Irish Diaspora, be it the Americans of all races and ethnic origins we worked beside. His behaviour domestically within the US, even if we have no justification we still must condemn and explore any material or political assistance we can give the working people of the US. As old friends and/or older cousins we have a duty to act on behalf of the working people of America. We sweated with them and we bled with them, and regardless of the misguided opinions of our europhile PMC class, the American working class has been our first friend, our best friend, always. As opposed to their WASP traditional leadership of which Trump and Vance are just the newest iteration of. From James Connolly's time in the IWW trade union to US fund raising for our struggle and the reciprocal support between the Irish and US civil rights movements.

To this end what he has done to our friends and cousins cannot be ignored even if some of them were stupid enough, out of forgetting their class status and history, to believe he was their ally.

He blocked the federal minimum wage, which has been stuck at $7.25 per hour since 2009, from increasing.
Scrapped the plan that would have made 4.3 million US workers eligible for overtime pay and stole $1.5 billion per year from the pockets of workers to line the pockets of oligarchs.
Reversed a rule raising the minimum wage for federal contract workers, cutting pay for over 327,300 workers by up to 25%.
He also weakened independent contractor rules in the private sector making it even easier for employers to misclassify workers as contractors, denying them benefits, minimum wage, and unemployment insurance.
Tried to strip even the wholly unsatisfactory minimum wage and any overtime protections from 3.7 million home care and domestic workers.
Reversed a ban on paying disabled workers less than the federal minimum wage. He has also, in lockstep with this, moved to cut disability benefits for hundreds of thousands of low-income Americans, many of them veterans destroyed by US imperialist wars and turning all disabled Americans into a new underclass of ultra low paid precarious workers, by taking advantage of their vulnerabilities.
Implemented new lower-wage guidelines for the H-2A visa program, projected to cost U.S. farmworkers $2.64 billion annually and by proxy lowering the wages of those employed in agriculture across the board regardless of status.
He signed an executive order stripping collective bargaining rights from over 1 million federal workers.
Fired the chair of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), leaving it without an authority to protect workers from illegal anti-union tactics. Union elections fell almost immediately by nearly 30% as a result.
In spite of all his big talk in the Appalachians about bringing back coal work and Vance playing dress up as a hillbilly union man for electoral purposes they have halted all enforcement of regulations protecting coal miners from black lung disease.
His “Big Beautiful Bill” included Medicaid cuts and let ACA tax credits expire, causing millions to lose coverage.

The economic impacts of this all has been startling. 361,000 non college educated and entry level jobs have already been lost up to September 2025 and the “Liberation Day” Tarrifs cost a further 89,000 jobs on their own. For all his talk about trades and all his anti intellectual nonsense, wages have actually slowed or dropped for those holding a high school diploma or less.

In spite of his nonsense that environmental deregulation would bring cheaper prices, household energy has seen a 9% increase in costs in a single year. Gas prices have increased by 30% in the same timeframe and his Tarrifs have cost working households $2120 per household last year alone.

That’s to say nothing of the construction job losses from him shutting down renewable energy projects.

To top all of this off, if you wanted an even bigger slap in the face to the American worker, The OBBBA cut taxes for the richest 1% by $1 trillion while working families starve and lose their homes.

The case against him in his treatment of LGBTQ+ people, women and children:

Even outside of reports and allegations of his severe sexual abuse and misconduct towards women and children which he has yet to be properly tried for, his structural mistreatment of women, children and LGBTQ+ people represents the biggest reversal of progress in the western world in living memory.

Women and children.

He has revoked most executive orders pertaining to access to reproductive health for women, across the board whether abortion was involved or not.
He reinstated The Hyde Amendment which cut federal funding for abortion
He rescinded the requirement for hospitals to perform life saving abortions in emergency situations.
The abortion travel ban we are all familiar with
He blocked Medicaid reimbursements for cancer screenings, birth control, and STI testing at Planned Parenthood.
His 90 day USAID freeze meant 11.7M women and girls were denied healthcare, 4.2M unintended pregnancies occurred, along with 8,340 maternal deaths.
The pay gap in the US actually widened to 18.6% last year, the first time it has actually widened in the US since women got the right to equal pay with the Equal Pay Act of 1963.
Over 455,000 women left the workforce in first 8 months of 2025 (the majority of whom were Black)
42% of these women leaving the workforce cited caregiving which isn’t supprising given that he froze $10 billion in childcare supports.
In his dismantling of “DEI” he repealed the order banning federal contractors from sex-based discrimination.
He directed the EEOC, the primary workplace civil rights agency, to focus on “protecting white men” from diversity initiatives in order to prevent the public sector being voluntarily inclusive.
He sought to make willingness to hand over women to ICE a condition of domestic violence charities receiving funding.
He has already slashed funding for federal grants for domestic violence charities, and the funding for the Office on Violence Against Women is now also under threat.
He tried to block funding under The Violence Against Women Act from victims who can't immediately prove their immigration status.
Women's names have been removed from museums, parks, monuments, and in the Arlington National Cemetery. Researchers have been told to avoid the words "women" and "female" for federal funding.
Title IX is no longer to be interpreted as protecting against discrimination based on sex stereotypes.
He reinstated a policy blocking foreign charities that provide abortion services from receiving U.S. aid.
He changed how the U.S. reports on human rights globally, categorizing abortion access as "human rights abuses".
There is systemic rape in ICE facilities there has been at least 1,200 allegations against ICE officers of committing sexual assault against women they held in custody.
There have been in ice detention in the past year alone 510 credible reports of human rights abuses, including 41 cases of physical and sexual abuse, 14 reports of pregnant women being abused, and 18 cases of children being abused (some as young as 2 years old)
Pregnant women face neglect, including being denied care and miscarrying without medical assistance. A federal women's prison shut down for rampant sexual abuse may reopen as an ICE facility.
Officials have reported investigating claims of children being raped "600 to 700 times" and a 3-year-old allegedly suffered sexual abuse in federal custody.
Documented cases include denying a 10-year-old U.S. citizen follow-up care after brain surgery and deporting a 4-year-old receiving treatment for metastatic cancer without a doctor's consultation.
Thousands of women and children have gone missing.
At least 3,800 children have been detained in ICE custody, including 500 infants and toddlers under 3. Average custody time for children has skyrocketed from 37 days to 206 days.
The parents of at least 545 children separated by ICE cannot be found at all. A further 1360 have not been reunited with their parents.
An estimated 145,000 U.S. child US citizens have experienced a parent's detention since January 2025, with over 22,000 losing both resident parents.

LGBTQ+ People:

The ridiculously named “Defending Women Order” made it official policy that only two genders (male & female) exist, eliminating federal recognition of trans, nonbinary, & intersex identities. It also blocked gender self-identification on federal documents.
The DEI termination order Ordered federal agencies to terminate all DEI mandates and programs, while The Anti-"Indoctrination" Order banned teaching about gender diversity in K-12 schools and threatened to sanction schools that support LGBTQ+ students.
The Anti-Trans Sports Order demands sports associations "keep men out of women's sports" for which they define trans women at all stages of transition as “men”
The following information has been scrubbed from US government websites: LGBTQ Pride Month information, HIV prevention fact sheets, and State as well as Labor Department LGBTQ pages.
Pride flags were even removed from the Stonewall monument.
Transgender people have been banned from the military.
Transgender prisoners now must be housed in prisons that conform with what sex they were identified with at birth.
He has so far cancelled 125+ grants for LGBTQ research.
Federal health webpages on HIV and LGBTQ issues have been deleted.
An order prohibits schools from recognizing gender identity, using correct names or pronouns, and allowing bathroom and locker room access.
Threatened to withhold federal funding from schools that "deliberately conceal" a child's gender or sexual identity from parents essentially making forced “outing” national policy. Teachers may be prosecuted for affirming a student's gender identity.
He opened investigations into Oregon and warned Vermont over policies protecting LGBTQ foster youth.
The state department has been warned to move away from recording persecution of LGBTQ+ people in their human rights reports and that passports must reflect sex as assigned at birth.
Religious exemptions have been expanded to include outright discrimination against LGBTQ+ people.

Ireland, which knows the dark path of discrimination against women, widespread abuse against children and the hiding away and criminalisation of LGBTQ+ people needs to stand resolutely with their struggle in the US. If this is not curtailed now, the US will drag the whole of it's sphere of influence, us included, backwards with it.

Now to our Black friends in particular:

Due in part to his “Anti DEI” nonsense which was actually a return to outright unveiled discrimination and other factors, the picture is even worse for the Black American worker and their families.

Black unemployment rose from 6% in 2024 to 8.2% by November 2025. This widened the gap with white unemployment and erased decades of progress.
Black women were the hardest hit with 300,000 Black women alone leaving the workforce last year.
It appears Black workers were disproportionately laid off during the mass federal layoffs. The executive order eliminating “DEI” has also halted workforce training, mentorship, equality grants and has completely rescinded affirmative action requirements for federal contractors, as a matter of fact federal contractors are no longer explicitly banned from maintaining segregation. An executive order also directed agencies to stop enforcing the main law prohibiting lending discrimination.
The funding for minority owned businesses has been largely cut off entirely meaning many cannot even join the “self employed” precariat.
Anti discrimination protections have been pulled back from housing, criminal justice and hiring. HUD saw a 65% reduction in staffing levels, with lawyers cut from 22 to 6 and discrimination enforcements dropping from 35 to just 4 per year. This comes as no surprise as Trump himself was sued by the DOJ in 1975 for discriminating against black tenants.

That’s not even considering his outright erasure of black history and culture. He has attacked everything from the memory of Black Servicemembers who fought in WW2 stripping their photos and information from archives, he tried to get the names of civil rights leaders removed from naval ships as well and right out to things as petty as removing free entry to national parks on MLK Junior Day and Juneteenth. He actually even sued the Underground Railroad museum after canceling its grant under the anti-DEI order.

That’s to say nothing of his by the back door attacking of their hard won voting rights. This should abhor any Irish person and any Irish Diaspora descendant even though too often it doesn’t. Not only because many Black Americans are our cousins too, but because like us, their ancestors would have much rather have stayed at home in their homelands of origin. We were pushed out by famine and war, but got to retain our history. They were forced captives stripped of their history. We bled together as cannon fodder in the various US wars, and we sweated together, us as indentured servants and they as chattel slaves in the South, as fellow workers in the industrial north. Some of the descendants of our land betrayed them often, becoming overseers and sometimes even slaveowners. Becoming cops and slave catchers. Yet, in other cases, we found friendship, brotherhood and even established families together.

Their civil rights movement and our civil rights movement in the 60s - 80s saw each other as brothers. Their civil rights movement inspired ours. While ours bled in the north of Ireland and theirs bled in the southern US, those bleeding both of us were one in the same. Those bleeding both of us were from the same backgrounds Trump and Vance are descendants of today. So we cannot let them down no more, we owe it to them.

Now to our Native American friends:

He revoked the “Self Determination Order” reducing their access to federal funding.
He abolished the Bears Ears Commission in southern Utah which was a tribal land commission giving 5 tribes (the Hopi Tribe, Navajo Nation, Ute Indian Tribe, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe and Zuni Tribe) the management of 1.35 million acres of their own ancestral lands along with the area of the monument by 90% to enable resource extraction. The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument nearby met an identical fate. This applies to a combined 3 million acres of tribal lands.
He has undertaken a campaign of weakening treaty obligations across the board, as outlined in recent reports from NFW, their Defending Tribal Sovereignty report released on the 28th of July.
He built 62 miles of his border wall through the Tohono O’odham reservation without consent or consultation.
He rescinded a rule requiring states to protect tribes' fishing and hunting rights when setting water quality standards and weakened tribal power to block projects under the Clean Water Act.
Slashed federal funding to Indigenous Americans by $1 billion and a report from Portland State University found nearly half of all federal funding for tribes is at risk under the OBBBA. $1.5 billion could be slashed from federal spending on providing energy to tribes alone.
He has proposed eliminating funding entirely for all 34 accredited tribal colleges and universities.
He has proposed over $900 million in cuts to the Indian Health Service (IHS), and has eliminated Tribal Behavioral Health Grants, as well as terminated leases for at least 12 IHS facilities.
He pushed the SAVE Act requiring documentary proof of citizenship, creating barriers for Native voters. Requiring information on documentation that is usually not found on tribal identification specifically.
He has tried to remove birthright citizenship from Native Americans
He cut over $1.6 million in grants for research into the U.S. government's abusive Indian boarding school system. The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition lost nearly $283,000 overnight.

That’s to say nothing of ICE reportedly racially profiling Native Americans and reportedly refusing to recognise their tribal IDs or moves to divert funds away from tribal schools, or the pre existing state of affairs of the abject poverty many live in on reservations where every advancement is made as difficult as possible on them, where they have been kept off of the good land and both the national parks and BLM lands serve as a means of evading making good on the treaties. Little and all as they have, when all the US belongs to them, more is being taken from them again on the say-so of Trump and his oligarchs.

This is the people who’s land the US sits on being dispossessed even further and denied the living off of their own land and the education of their children. Their sacred sites being desecrated. This is a history we knew once ourselves and they are going through it a second time anew having never gotten satisfaction after the first time. While they knew cold and hunger on their forced march known as the trail of tears, when they got to the end of it they sent us money during our famine. The Bridge of Tears stands in Newcastlewest Co.Limerick where people said goodbye to their families either bound for the workhouse in Newcastlewest from the rest of the county or bound out of Newcastlewest on the road to the boat from America leaving Cork. There is also one in Donegal near Muckish Mountain towards the port of Derry. While we stood on our bridges of tears, they marched on their trail of tears. They recognised themselves in us and we must now recognise ourselves in them. We may not be brothers in blood but we are kindred spirits.

Most of all, his treatment of the Latin American Community chiefly amongst immigrants:

People from Latino backgrounds account for 9 out of 10 ICE arrests with them having doubled in just his first 100 days in office and arrests of people from Honduras increasing by 361%
There have been at least 510 credible reports of human rights abuses in ICE detention in the past year alone.
His Supreme Court legalised racial profiling based on race, ethnicity, or speaking Spanish or English with an accent. Justice Sotomayor wrote that the administration "has all but declared that all Latinos, US citizens or not... are fair game to be seized at any time".
He spurned the shift from targeting incarcerated individuals to dragnets of whole communities, with such operations surging by 255%. This included roving patrols and raids on construction sites and other areas of employment despite his nonsense claims that immigrants don’t work and live on welfare.
He has presided over unprecedented stripping of civil liberties across the board but especially regarding the Latino community and immigrants in general. Reports document masked agents breaking car windows, "kidnapping" people off the street, and shackling a pregnant U.S. citizen. A Latin American trade unionist and intensive care nurse, Alex Preti was shot and killed in Minneapolis. A petition to the U.N. formally accused the administration of "ethnic cleansing". At least 52 people have died in ICE custody.
US citizenship is no shield if you are the wrong colour. At least 170+ US citizens have been swept up by ICE, the actual figure is likely far higher and could be as high as 674 potential US citizens from his first term alone, of which 70 were deported. There have been at least 3 US citizens shot and killed by ICE. At least 25 people have been shot overall possibly as many as 59. Raz Barka, Mayor of Newark New Jersey was at one point arrested by ICE.

While much of the other factors mentioned in other sections here also affect Latin Americans, the majority of the behaviour of ICE is directed towards Latin Americans. The same applies to the Latin Americans as applies to the Black and Indigenous Americans. We bled with them, we sweated with them and we cried with them. The Irish enlisted knew this when they switched sides in the Mexican-American war. We sweated with them in hard labour for little pay up and down the United States of America and we cried with them, both subjects of anti Catholic sentiment in the early 20th century. We owe it to them to stand with them again.

On Ireland ourselves

He has repeatedly insulted the office of Teoseach not that we have any love for Martin, but the first time Martin went over he was a whipped dog while McGregor was the honoured guest.
He has insulted the office of President sneering at Catherine Connolly and repeatedly calling her “he” one would presume in an attempt to get his followers to “transvestigate” her when she criticised his illegal war on Iran.
He has repeatedly accused Ireland of “taking advantage” as if US multinationals weren’t here to exert US hegemony
He has repeatedly threatened various economic sectors particularly pharma with Tariffs and restrictions. Pharma alone employs 70,000 people. Food has also been affected by his “Liberation Day” Tariffs.

In spite of him repeatedly attacking Ireland and our economy (not that we agree with our lack of indigenous worker owned industries to be so reliant on multinationals in the first place)

In spite of him repeatedly disrespecting our leadership (not that we agree with them, or the state) our government continues to grovel and have even invited him to the Aras while he’s here.

We condemn the government sending the Garda Water Unit and several Garda jeeps to Doonbeg yesterday (they were sighted yesterday heading towards Doonbeg by a reliable source who unfortunately was driving a work van and couldn’t take a photograph) wasting public money a full week before the event people are objecting to, to presumably wait it out.

We object to our government's soft soaping of a man for whom words can scarcely adequately describe his evil.

Donald Trump is an enemy to the whole human race. He’s a “degenerate” in a far truer sense than the people his followers like to throw that word at, who pretends to be a holy man, while lacking any kind of morality and has lived his life in pursuit of self glorification at the cost of destroying other people’s lives.

He is a (for legal purposes, alleged) rapist and abuser who pretends to care for women and children

He’s an oligarch who likes to pretend to be for the working man

His wealth and his power cannot conceal what he is and the people of Ireland do not want him.
