Techy Lefties, We Need Your Help For A Project!
The question that is worth asking is can digital technology be made to play an effective and progressive role for us and our communities. Participants of the Consensus UX project are trying to develop a way that we could.
Techy lefties, we need you!
I don’t need to tell you that the present state of digital technology is down a dark path. Particularly recently we have all felt the enshitification of applications we had grown up on. The surveillance state now haunts our sleep and surveillance capitalism our private moment. Everything is reels, everything is anxiety inducing. Our nervous systems and knowledges of the world are hijacked by the algorithmic pretence of social interaction. Vulnerable people in our lives are radicalised into reactionary beliefs. Avoiding deep complicity is so difficult.
The question that is worth asking is can digital technology be made to play an effective and progressive role for us and our communities. Participants of the Consensus UX project are trying to develop a way that we could.
So much of politics and community organizing revolves around group chats, it seems intuitive that the creation of consent registering tools on a chat app may help provide the modular building blocks required for broad consent based representation. Here is a video introducing the concept in more detail.
Like federations of peoples councils, but quicker.
For this endeavour we need the input of techies, designers, organizers, many many diverse skill sets and knowledges. The ball is rolling after our first co design workshop, but all willing and sincere hands are appreciated.
We would really appreciate if anyone with resources they could put towards the project would get in touch.
Yours sincerely
The Consensus UX
