My Academic Journey and the Struggle to Continue My Education
Receiving the refusal was extremely difficult for me. After years of studying, working, and building my professional career, I had hoped that continuing my education would open a new chapter in my life. What I had worked so hard to obtain was suddenly put out of reach.
Education has always been one of the most important goals in my life. I have worked hard throughout my academic and professional journey to build a strong future through knowledge, qualifications, and experience. My ambition has always been to continue my education, develop my professional skills, and use what I learn to contribute positively to my community.
I completed my secondary education at Beer Sabaa Secondary School in 2010, achieving a Tawjihi grade of 92.2%. After that, I continued my studies at the University of Palestine, where I specialized in Accounting and graduated in 2016 with a GPA of 93.6%.
Accounting has always been more than just a university major for me. It is a field that requires accuracy, responsibility, analytical thinking, and a strong understanding of how organizations and businesses operate. During my university studies, I developed a strong interest in both theoretical and practical aspects of accounting.
My academic performance also allowed me to work as a Teaching Assistant in the Accounting Department at the University of Palestine from September 2015 to February 2016. This experience was particularly meaningful to me because it gave me the opportunity to support other students and strengthened my interest in academic and professional development.
After graduation, I began my professional career at the Bank of Palestine, where I gained approximately ten years of experience in the banking sector. This experience helped me develop practical knowledge in accounting, finance, banking operations, customer service, financial documentation, and professional responsibility. My academic background combined with my professional experience gave me a clear understanding of the importance of advanced education in developing my career.
For this reason, I decided to pursue a master's degree abroad. My goal was not simply to obtain another academic qualification. I wanted to deepen my knowledge, gain international academic experience, improve my professional capabilities, and eventually use this knowledge to support my community and future students.
I was fortunate to receive final, unconditional admission to a master's programme at the University of Galway in Ireland. I prepared my application seriously and provided supporting documentation regarding my academic qualifications, English-medium education, professional experience, and financial circumstances. My bachelor's degree was taught in English, and I obtained official documentation confirming this.
Despite my academic background, professional experience, university admission, and supporting documents, my Irish student visa application was refused.
Receiving the refusal was extremely difficult for me. The visa refusal meant that the educational opportunity I had worked so hard to obtain was suddenly put out of reach.
I fully understand that countries have immigration and visa requirements, and I respect the right of governments to assess visa applications according to their laws and procedures. At the same time, I hope that students in difficult circumstances can be given a fair opportunity to have their academic qualifications, professional experience, genuine educational intentions, and individual circumstances carefully considered.
My story is not only about one visa application. It is about a person who has spent years investing in education and professional development and who still wants the opportunity to continue learning.
I remain determined to pursue higher education. My academic record, my experience in accounting and banking, and my previous experience as a teaching assistant have strengthened my belief that education can change individual lives and create opportunities for communities.
I hope to find another pathway to continue my master's studies and build on everything I have achieved so far. My goal remains the same: to gain advanced knowledge, develop professionally, and eventually use my education and experience to help others.
A visa refusal may close one door, but it does not have to end an educational journey. I continue to believe in the value of education, perseverance, and the possibility of building a better future through knowledge.
