Brain Surgery Patient Joins CATU Armagh To Fight Eviction
In order to protect herself, the woman has joined the Craigavon–Armagh branch of the Community Action Tenants’ Union to fight the eviction order, which was issued by the British megabank National Westminster (‘NatWest’).
A woman undergoing brain surgery is being threatened with eviction from her Lurgan-area home of nearly three decades. The stress from this unstable housing situation is contributing to her seizures and mental health challenges.
The Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE), the largest social housing landlord in the Six Counties, is refusing to provide her with necessary assistance at present.
In order to protect herself, the woman has joined the Craigavon–Armagh branch of the Community Action Tenants’ Union to fight the eviction order, which was issued by the British megabank National Westminster (‘NatWest’).
The woman, with the support of her CATU community, has issued two demands:
- That the eviction order from NatWest is suspended while she is in recovery, and
- That the NIHE offers her alternative accommodation prior to any eviction date.
The Craigavon–Armagh branch is one of CATU’s youngest branches, having been established in August 2025. It covers a number of towns along the A3 road, including Armagh, Portadown, Craigavon and Lurgan.
