The Association for the Defense of Political Prisoners and Human Rights, founded by brothers Mikhail and Alexander Kononovich, have compiled a detailed list of incidents which proves the systematic torture of political prisoners, including communists, anti-fascist, anti-imperialists and those who refuse to fight in the war against Russia. They are [calling](https://anti-imperialistfront.org/international-call-by-the-anti-imperialist-front-for-a-one-day-solidarity-hunger-strike-with-the-political-prisoners-in-ukraine/?ref=aontachtmedia.ie) on all comrades worldwide to partake in a solidarity hunger strike with the Ukrainian political prisoners. “Vinnytsia Colony No. 86 has been converted by the Zelenskyy regime into a concentration camp for political prisoners. The first prisoners were transferred there in December 2025, and throughout the winter, the cells had no electricity, heat, or hot water. Prisoners are constantly subjected to inhumane conditions that undermine their health and do not receive necessary medical care, “ their statement reads. “Political prisoners are systematically subjected to beatings, threats of sexual violence, and other degrading acts. Prison staff are often intoxicated during torture, “ it continues. “Political prisoners are forced to perform hard labor with virtually no pay, without sick leave or age-related releases, and without the high-quality, nutritious food necessary for recuperation, “ it concludes. The Zelensky regime, like the Putin regime, is [forcibly conscripting](https://aontachtmedia.ie/the-western-left-must-stop-backing-zelenskys-conscription-machine/) members of the working class, Roma people and poorer Hungarians residing in Ukrainian territory, despite mass resistance to further participation in the war. A Ukrainian Marxist, Bogdan Syrotiuk, was recently [sentenced](https://marxist.com/ukraine-marxist-bogdan-syrotiuk-sentenced-to-15-years-in-prison-a-call-for-solidarity.htm?ref=aontachtmedia.ie) to 15-years in prison for anti-war agitation, including sharing the writings of Lenin. His crime was alleged to be “treason”. In Russia, 5 Marxists were handed prison [sentences](https://novayagazeta.eu/en/articles/2025/12/16/five-russian-marxists-handed-long-prison-sentences-for-plotting-to-overthrow-the-regime-en-news?ref=aontachtmedia.ie) between 16 to 22 years in December 2025 for allegedly plotting to overthrow the regime. The start of the symbolic hunger strike is today. It has reached Ireland, with comrades from various groups participating. Anti Imperialist Action Ireland (AIA) have [called](https://www.instagram.com/p/DdECyfooYAk?ref=aontachtmedia.ie) on all Irish comrades to engage in the international hunger strike. “\[AIA\] send solidarity and support to anti-imperialist activists in Ukraine as they embark on an international day of solidarity and a 24 hour symbolic hunger strike with Ukrainian political prisoners on September 11, “ their statement reads. “The situation for anti-imperialist and anti-fascist prisoners in Ukraine is extremely dangerous and brutal. One prison in particular, Vinnytsia Colony No. 86, has been transformed by Zelensky’s fascist regime into a prison for political prisoners. Inmates there are subjected to systematic beatings and regular humiliation. Prisoners are forced to perform hard labour, fed low-quality food, and are deprived of medical care, “ it adds. “The Zelensky regime plans to move another 200 political prisoners from across Ukraine to Vinnytsia Colony No. 86\. This is being done with the sole purpose of breaking the resistance of anti-fascists and increasing the attacks upon them. Solidarity with political prisoners in Ukraine is something that cannot be forgotten or overlooked, and is an important part of the fight against fascism and imperialism in Europe, “ it concludes.
